  • Wide paddle face makes it easy to place shots, and the edge guard prevents accidental mis-hits.
  • Comfortable 15.68” long paddle with a 4-3/4” handle, and balance point in the middle.
  • Slightly wider than average paddle face provides more surface area to work with.
  • Cushioned and ergonomic grip makes it comfortable to hold even during long rallies.
  • Excellent spin potential and rounded edges make it easy to maneuver in the air.
  • Affordable price point compared to other graphite paddles, excellent value for its price range.
  • Core material is loud when struck, particularly during hard smashes.
  • Some players may prefer the side curve in flight over the rounded edges, but this is a personal preference.

Firstly, the Rally Graphite paddle, with its durable honeycomb composite polymer core and textured graphite carbon face, provided me with the ideal combination of power and control.

The wide paddle face made placing shots easy, and the edge guard helped prevent accidental mis-hits.

Ergonomics and Comfort for Extended Play

The paddle, measuring 15.68” in length with a 4-3/4” handle, was comfortable to grip for my average-sized hands. Its balance point, located in the middle, facilitated control, while the slightly wider-than-average paddle face offered more surface area for play.

Affordability, Evolution, and Performance Considerations

The cushioned and ergonomic grip ensured comfort during long rallies. Additionally, the paddle’s excellent spin potential made spinning the ball effortless, and its rounded edges allowed for easy maneuverability in the air.

One observation I made was that some players preferred a side curve in flight over the rounded edges. However, this is a matter of personal preference, and I found the rounded edges quite satisfactory.

What distinguishes the Rally Graphite paddle from its competitors is its affordable price, particularly when compared to other graphite paddles. It offers excellent value in its price range, making it the best pickleball paddle under $100.

In its evolution from previous models, the Rally Graphite paddle has improved by incorporating a honeycomb composite polymer core, enhancing its durability and power.

Expert opinions confirm the paddle’s coolness and good balance, a testament to its quality, which I have experienced firsthand. However, one drawback is that its core material can be loud when struck, especially during hard smashes.

This feature makes hitting the ball precisely easier, whether playing close to the net or from the backcourt.

Power, Spin, and Grip Size

Another great aspect of this paddle is its combination of power and spin. Its large surface area allows for harder hits with more spin.

The paddle’s grip size, larger than usual, provides added stability during swings, facilitating precise ball strikes.

Lightweight Design and Nomex Core for Superior Control

The dead spots near the edges of the paddle produce different sounds, but they are not too distracting or bothersome.

Additionally, the paddle’s lightweight design makes it easy to use during extended sets. Considering its features, the paddle is excellently priced.

What sets this paddle apart from its competitors is its Nomex Core, offering excellent touch and superior ball control.

The wooden handle ensures perfect balance, giving the paddle a balanced feel in your hand. The paddle also features a notable Sweet Spot, simplifying dinking or dropping the ball.

Great Value for Advanced Players and Maintenance Note

The paddle is suitable for advanced players, and it is great for a strong, hard-hitting game from the backcourt. It is also recommended for controlling drop shots and keeping opponents on their toes.

  • Some users prefer a longer handle to balance the weight of the paddle.

After conducting my own research and analysis, I can confidently state that the Paddletek Phoenix Genesis paddle is one of the best in its price range.

Unique Design Elements for Control and Power

The paddle’s lightweight design is a standout feature, enhancing speed and maneuverability for quick reactions at the net. The paddle’s original PolyCore is also noteworthy, specifically designed for control and power.

Additionally, the high-grade epoxy surface provides a durable finish and enhances spin control. These features contribute to the paddle’s all-around playability.

One aspect that sets this paddle apart from its competitors is the large playing surface, textured for added control and delivering the perfect amount of power. Furthermore, the paddle’s shorter length is critical in pickleball, allowing for quicker net reactions.

In terms of drawbacks, some users might find the paddle slightly less responsive than others. Additionally, some users prefer a longer handle to balance the paddle’s weight. However, these minor drawbacks are overshadowed by the paddle’s numerous benefits.

Performance and Evolution from Previous Models

As someone who has used multiple pickleball paddles, I can confidently say that the Paddletek Phoenix Genesis Pickleball Paddle is the best under $100.

The grip is suitable for small hands, and the paddle offers a great feel and sound when hitting the ball.

Its well-balanced and lightweight design is ideal for quick net reactions, and the textured face improves spin control, enhancing the overall experience.

Regarding evolution from previous models, the Paddletek Phoenix Series resembles the Phoenix Pro in weight and dimensions. However, users have noted that this paddle’s sweet spot seems larger than that of their previous paddles.

  • Outdoor balls included in the set are not considered to be the best on the market.

The SLK by Selkirk Pickleball Paddles are designed with a combination of graphite and fiberglass, providing power and control for players.

These paddles utilize SX3 Honeycomb Core technology to create a large sweet spot, allowing for consistent speed and a softer feel. The Ultra-Cushion Grip material offers comfort and absorbs perspiration and impact.

Ideal for Beginners and Lightweight Design

One key benefit of the SLK paddles is their lightweight design, making them ideal for the next generation of pickleball players. They are also affordable, presenting a great option for beginners learning the game.

However, some reviewers have noted that the SLK paddles might not be the best choice for more experienced players who play frequently.

Package Contents and Potential Drawbacks

The outdoor balls included in the set are not considered the best on the market. Additionally, the starter bag included is flimsy and lacks pockets or holders.

Despite these drawbacks, the SLK paddles are well-made and durable. They serve as an excellent starter set for new players, offering good control and power for recreational play.

The set includes red and blue paddles, allowing players to easily identify their own. It also comes with a rigid carry bag for convenient portability.

Overall, based on the provided information, the SLK by Selkirk Pickleball Paddles are an excellent choice for beginners and recreational players. Their lightweight design, large sweet spot, and affordability make them a commendable starter set.

However, more experienced players may seek a higher-end paddle offering better performance features.

07- SLK EVO Power Hybrid Max 2.0 – Powerful Paddle for Aggressive Play

07- SLK EVO Power Hybrid Max 2.0 - Powerful Paddle for Aggressive Play
  • Powerful and suitable for aggressive play styles.
  • Heavy swing without wrist strain, great for hard and accurate hits.
  • Lightweight design, cushioned grip for smaller hands, and durability.
  • Aesthetic appeal with colorful design options.
  • Ideal for beginners to intermediates.
  • Good balance of power and control for up to a 3.0 skill level.
  • Comfortable and versatile for a wide range of players.
  • May require grip modification for those with large hands.
  • May lack advanced spin capabilities for higher-level players.

I’ve been testing this paddle out, and I’m here to give you the scoop on whether it’s worth snagging, especially when you’re eyeing those paddles under $100.

Performance & Playability

First off, the EVO Power XL is a powerhouse. If you’re transitioning from a lightweight control paddle and craving more oomph in your shots, this one’s a solid choice. It packs a heavy swing but doesn’t leave your wrists begging for mercy.

I’ve found it’s a dream for aggressive play styles. And let me tell you, when it comes to hard and accurate hits, this paddle doesn’t disappoint.

Now, not all that glitters is gold. While some players rave about it, especially when it’s on sale, others find it a bit lacking. The control model, for instance, gets mixed reviews. A few players grumble about its small sweet spot and responsiveness.

And if you’ve got large hands, you might want to beef up the grip for better control. It’s like wearing shoes that are just a tad too tight – not a deal-breaker, but something to consider.

Design & Comfort

The SLK EVO Hybridmax 2.0 scores points for its lightweight design and the ‘pop’ you get on ball return. It’s got a cushioned grip that’s a real treat for players with smaller hands. Durability? Check. Tournament-approved? You bet. But here’s the kicker – advanced players might find it a bit too smooth for those fancy spins.

Suitability & Aesthetic

Aesthetically, this paddle’s a looker. I mean, who doesn’t like a splash of color in their game? But watch out for those white grips – they can get grubby pretty quick. It’s a great fit for beginners to intermediates, but if you’re above a 3.5 skill level, you might find it a tad light for your liking, especially at the net.

MY ASSESSMENT

The Selkirk EVO MAX paddle is a mixed bag. It’s got style, comfort, and a good balance of power and control. But if you’re looking to add some serious spin to your game, you might want to keep looking. It’s perfect up to a 3.0 level, but the higher-level players might feel it’s lacking.

In a nutshell, it’s a comfy, good-looking paddle that can hold its own, but it might not be the top dog for the more advanced players out there.

08- Vitaluxe – Well-Balanced Weight Distribution

08- Vitaluxe - Well-Balanced Weight Distribution
  • High-quality 3k carbon material enhances spin capabilities.
  • Lightweight (7.4 oz) with a satisfying ‘pop’ for power shots.
  • Edgeless design for excellent control, suitable for intermediate to advanced players.
  • Well-balanced weight distribution in the dead center.
  • Unique herringbone pattern on the carbon fiber surface improves spin control.
  • Comfortable handle size and grip for better reach.
  • Preferred by serious players for lightweight design and superior spin capabilities.
  • Not yet USAPA approved for sanctioned tournaments.
  • The larger size might not suit players with shorter arms.
  • The grip can get grubby due to the white color, requiring frequent cleaning.

First off, the Vitaluxe is crafted with high-quality 3k carbon material. This isn’t just marketing jargon – it genuinely enhances the spin capabilities. The paddle weighs in at a nimble 7.4 oz, lighter than many power paddles, yet it doesn’t skimp on delivering that satisfying ‘pop’.

Design and Playability

The edgeless design is a game-changer, especially for those quick plays near the kitchen. It offers excellent control, making it a suitable pick for intermediate to advanced players.

The balance point is dead center, indicating a well-thought-out weight distribution. Despite its featherweight, the Vitaluxe punches above its weight class in playability.

Customization and Approval

There’s room for customization with lead tape, but honestly, it’s pretty solid as is. A downside, though, is that it’s not yet USAPA approved, possibly due to its cutting-edge features. This might be a deal-breaker for those looking to compete in sanctioned tournaments.

The paddle’s rapid response is a standout feature, especially in close-up plays. The unique herringbone pattern on the carbon fiber surface not only looks cool but also deviates from the typical basket weave design. The grippy surface, possibly enhanced with glass beads, ups the ante in spin control.

Comfort and Size

The handle is comfortably long, offering a good grip and enhancing overall handling. For players with shorter arms, its larger size is a boon, offering better reach without straining your wrists.

In the pickleball paddle world, wood paddles are the entry-level choice, offering basic playability but lacking in quality and spin. Fiberglass paddles step it up a notch, being light, responsive, and better for spin, catering to a wider range of skills. Graphite/Carbon Fiber paddles, like the Vitaluxe, sit at the top tier, preferred by serious players for their lightweight design and superior spin capabilities.

MY ASSESSMENT

The Vitaluxe is a solid choice for serious players looking for a lightweight yet powerful paddle with a comfortable grip. Its textured surface not only enhances ball control but also adds that extra zing to your shots. The overall performance, especially the spin and control features, makes the Vitaluxe a valuable pick in its price range.

09- ‎PICKLD – Eye Catching Chess Board Design

09- ‎PICKLD - Eye Catching Chess Board Design
  • Eye-catching chessboard-inspired design.
  • Sticky and comfortable grip for excellent hold.
  • Thinner, rectangular handle improves paddle positioning and stability.
  • Large sweet spot enhances playability.
  • Balanced weight for control and power.
  • Slightly textured faces for ball control.
  • Muffled pop sound for a quieter game.
  • White case gets dirty easily.
  • Steeper price compared to off-brand alternatives.
  • Lack of USAPA approval limits use in official tournaments.

First up, the chessboard-inspired design is a real head-turner. The paddle stands out with its eye-catching green and white checkerboard pattern and light brown, leather-like handle – a refreshing change from the typical dark colors. It comes with a white case, which, while stylish, tends to get dirty easily.

Comfort & Handling

The grip on this paddle is a winner – sticky and comfortable, ensuring a good hold during play. The handle’s thinner, more rectangular shape surprisingly improves paddle positioning and stability, making it a joy to play with. It’s especially comfy for medium to large men’s hands.

The large sweet spot on the paddle enhances playability, a boon during extended sessions. Weighing in at 7.8 oz, it sits comfortably in the mid-range, striking a nice balance between control and power. The slightly textured faces are great for ball control, benefiting players even with moderate skills. And for those who prefer a quieter game, the muffled pop sound it produces is just perfect.

Suitability & Quality

This paddle is fantastic for beginners and potentially a good fit for intermediate players. The vibrant surface colors hold up well against wear and tear. Plus, the zip-on cover adds a touch of luxury.

Now, the price might feel a bit steep compared to other options, especially with the rise of off-brand paddles on Amazon offering competitive alternatives. However, I’d say the quality justifies a four out of five-star rating.

A notable drawback is the lack of USAPA approval, limiting its use in official tournaments. This, coupled with the price, might be a deal-breaker for some.

MY ASSESSMENT

In conclusion, the PICKLD Paddle is a solid choice for those starting out or looking for a backup paddle. It’s a significant step up from basic wooden paddles, offering a blend of design, grip comfort, and playability. While it may not be the first pick for tournament players due to its lack of USAPA approval, it’s a quality option for recreational play.

10- PBA Dinkmaster – Lightweight Design for Dinking

10- PBA Dinkmaster - Lightweight Design for Dinking
  • 20mm thickness for shot dampening and control.
  • Textured face for effective spin control.
  • Comfortable grip with sweat absorption.
  • Single formed fiberglass construction for durability.
  • Lightweight design suitable for dinking.
  • Unique design with aerodynamic throat.
  • Rounded edges and comfortable grip enhance usability.
  • Open neck design may require advanced control.
  • Shorter handle length may not suit all players.
  • Does not come with a head cover.

I compared the open neck design of the PBA paddle with the conventional CFS 16mm paddle. Interestingly, as an advanced player, I didn’t notice a significant performance boost with the open neck model. It’s lightweight and balanced, sure, but it demands a fair bit of control to avoid wayward shots. Beginners might find this challenging.

Design & Material

The PBA Sport features a 20mm thickness, which is great for shot dampening and control – think precise dinks and drives. The aerodynamic throat design, though, didn’t seem to make my swings any faster. What I really liked was the textured face, enhancing spin control quite effectively.

The grip is comfortable and does a good job absorbing sweat – a big plus during intense games. However, the shorter handle length (5.11”) might not suit everyone, especially if you’re into a two-handed backhand. And, it doesn’t come with a head cover, so keep that in mind.

Build Quality

This paddle uses single formed fiberglass construction and interestingly, skips the edgeguard. It’s a bit lighter than standard all-fiberglass paddles, weighing 232 grams. Despite being advertised as wide-body, its width feels pretty standard.

In play, the PBA paddle’s 20mm thickness is noticeable but doesn’t dramatically alter the gameplay. Its lightweight design is great for dinking, but if you’re looking for sheer power, it might fall short. The surface, feeling almost like sandpaper, is a plus for adding spin.

Aesthetics & Durability

The paddle’s design, including rounded edges and a comfortable grip, enhances its overall usability. The prominent PBA branding makes it stand out, almost doubling as an advertisement. And the lack of an edge guard suggests a design focused on durability.

MY ASSESSMENT

It’s a suitable choice for intermediate players who are exploring new paddle designs. The APA paddle, with its unique features, is more of a higher-end investment for frequent players looking to up their game.

Final Words

After trying out various pickleball paddles under $100, I have found three that truly stand out from the rest. The Paddletek Bantam EX-L, Rally Graphite, and ONIX Graphite Z5 are all excellent options for players on a budget who still seek a high-quality paddle.

The Paddletek Bantam EX-L features a thick polymer core and a velvet-textured polycarbonate surface, which provide excellent spin and control. Its large sweet spot also facilitates hitting powerful shots with ease.

The Rally Graphite boasts a durable honeycomb composite polymer core and a textured graphite carbon face, offering the ideal combination of power and control. Its wide paddle face allows for easy shot placement, and the edge guard helps prevent accidental mis-hits.

Finally, the ONIX Graphite Z5, with its wide body surface, offers excellent ball control. Its large surface area allows for significant power and spin, making it a great choice for players looking to enhance their game.
