10 Best Pickleball Paddle in 2024 – From My Experience

Pickleball is a fun and popular sport that has seen its participation skyrocket in recent years. Unlike other sports and hobbies, it only requires a few friends to get started.

By blending badminton, tennis, and Ping-Pong elements into one game, pickleball doesn’t require a large court, either. With the right equipment, your pickleball dreams are just a few points away from being realized.

That’s why this year, we’ve gathered the best pickleball paddles for 2024 so you can start having fun with your friends. Whether you want something lightweight or colorful, modern or retro-inspired, you’ll find something perfect for your playing style here.

My Recommendation:

The ONIX Graphite Z5 has been my favorite and best pickleball paddle since I started playing pickleball just over one year ago.

The nice touch of the paddle makes it easy to control shots, while the power and stability provided by the tough graphite surface give me the control necessary to hit powerful yet accurate shots.

If you are looking for a great pickleball paddle that won’t break your bank or your arm, I highly recommend getting an ONIX Graphite Z5 Pickleball Paddle.

  • Lightweight (easy to use for long sets)
  • Good value for its price
  • Wider body surface (for a bigger sweet spot)
  • Good power with some spin (for added control during rallies)
  • Larger grip size (for stability when swinging)
  • Dead spots near the edges of the paddlea
  • Grip needed to be re-taped/re-secured frequently during playtime.

The Onix z5 Graphite is my first best pickleball paddle in 2024, and it certainly lives up to its reputation! The paddle is lightweight, making it very easy to use, even when playing long sets.

Impressive Touch and Value

It has a nice touch, good value for its price, and a wide body surface which offers more sweet spot area than other paddles on the market.

Great Power and Control

I also noticed its power is good enough to hit hard shots with some spin, which helps me control the ball during rallies. Moreover, I found that hitting in the middle of the paddle made my shots more accurate than hitting off-center.

The Z5 Graphite has quite a sharp design and really stands out on the court. It has a hollow sound when you hit off-center, but it is still a great paddle for those just starting out in pickleball.

Enhanced Stability and Grip

The grip size is larger than usual, but this was beneficial because it provided more stability during my swings. There are also two layers of grip tape at the handle to ensure I have a secure hold throughout my playtime.

However, the grip needed to be re-taped and re-secured, as it was undone after several games.

Sometimes I felt a dead spot near the edges of the paddle. The sound it produces varies depending on how solid they are at different areas of the paddle. To use it properly, you must hit in the middle of the paddle every time, as hitting off-center can result in missing or sending it in a different direction than intended.

MY ASSESSMENT

Overall, I had an excellent experience with Onix Graphite z5 Pickleball Paddle. It is perfect for beginners who want to learn basic strokes correctly or those looking for improved control but only need a little power.

It's lightweight, so it doesn't tire you easily, and its wide body surface gives you a bigger sweet spot when playing. I highly recommend this paddle to anyone looking for an inexpensive but quality pickleball paddle.

  • USAPA approved paddle
  • Comfortable gripped handle
  • Solid graphite face for precise control of shots
  • Attractive blue honeycomb pattern with logo on the face
  • Slightly head-heavy paddle
  • Grip is not as comfortable as other paddles

Amazin' Aces Signature is my second best pickleball paddle in 2024, and I have to say I am really pleasantly surprised with its performance.

This USAPA approved paddle is made of a polymer core with a graphite face and has a nice rubberized edge guard for added protection.

Grip and Customization

The grip length is around 4.75 inches, while the paddle is 15.75 inches long, perfect for almost any player. It also comes with its comfort grip, which was not exactly to my liking, so I replaced it with my leather wrap and some extra Turners Grip for added cushioning.

This allowed me to get a better feel for the paddle when hitting the ball and also made it less likely that I would lose my grip.

Weight and Balance

When you first pick up this paddle, it feels like a decent weight - right around 8 ½ ounces - but upon closer inspection, it does feel slightly head-heavy. Nonetheless, I found that this head-weight actually worked to my advantage.

Stylish Design

The paddle itself looks great with a nice blue honeycomb pattern and the logo of Amazin' Aces on the face. It is not overly flashy, but it definitely stands out when you pick it up.

When you hit the ball, the impact is solid and does not give you too much pop with its graphite face, which was really nice. The volleys were even better, as they felt like I had complete control over each shot.

MY ASSESSMENT

Overall, this paddle is a great pick for anyone looking for a powerful yet precise gameplay experience. With its comfortable grip and solid graphite face, the Amazin' Aces Signature Pickleball Paddle will definitely give you an edge on the court.

  • The carbon friction surface is great and helps to hit more topspin
  • Has a good grip and does not bounce back too much, regardless of how hard you throw the ball
  • The handle has an overlay grip and ridges, which make for a comfortable hold
  • Bigger sweet spot than other paddles
  • Affordable price compared to other pickleball paddles
  • Lightweight and easy to maneuver
  • Durable construction that can last a long time with proper care.
  • The sweet spot is not as big on the edges
  • The handle might be a bit too long for some people
  • Not ideal for beginners due to its carbon friction surface.

The first thing that drew me in was the carbon friction surface of JOOLA Ben Johns Hyperion Pickleball Paddle. You know just how important spin is for anyone who's used to playing ping pong or tennis.

Spin-Focused Performance

Let's start with the surface of the paddle. The carbon friction is really good - if you're used to playing either tennis or table tennis, this paddle will definitely help you hit more topspin no matter how fast your opponent sends a shot your way.

Grip and Bounce Back

It also has great grip and does not bounce back too much, regardless of how hard you throw it at the ball. That being said, it needs to improve in other areas, such as its sweet spot - while it does have a bigger sweet spot than other paddles, it's not as big on the edges, which can be quite difficult to hit with.

Comfortable Handle

The handle is also quite good - it has an overlay grip and ridges, which are really comfortable and make for a great hold.

However, I don't particularly appreciate how long the paddle is compared to others - some people might prefer it longer, but I found it a bit too long for my liking.

MY ASSESSMENT

Overall, I recommend the JOOLA Ben Johns Hyperion Pickleball Paddle if you're looking for something to help you hit topspin more often.

It has great grip and does not bounce back much after hitting the ball; however, its sweet spot is smaller on the edges, and its handle might be a bit too long for some people. But if you don't mind the minor cons, this paddle is definitely worth considering.

  • Comes with four paddles and four balls
  • High quality package and individually wrapped for protection
  • Lightweight, yet still has control over the ball
  • The surface has a nice grip pattern to keep shots accurate and prevents slipping
  • Packs a punch in terms of power
  • Comfortable handle
  • Bouncy and high quality balls
  • The handle is a bit short for people with larger hands
  • Not designed for sweat absorption

Gonex Pattern A paddles come in a pack of four and include four balls to get your game on with friends or family. The package is high quality, and each paddle is individually wrapped for protection.

Weight and Control

The paddle's weight surprised me, it was light enough to swing it easily but still heavy enough that I felt I had control over the ball. The surface has a nice grip pattern which helps keep your shots accurate and prevents slipping.

Impressive Power

In terms of power, this paddle really packs a punch, especially compared to my usual Tech Tempest Wave Pro.

The handle is comfortable to hold, but it could be a bit longer for people with bigger hands. Unfortunately, the handle isn't designed for sweat absorption, so if you're an intense player, your grip might start slipping during long matches.

I haven't had any issues with chipping yet; however, the paddle's surface looks a bit prone to wear and tear over time.

Quality Balls and Convenient Extras

The balls with this set are bouncy and high quality; I was pleasantly surprised by how well they held up after some aggressive volleys!

The extra set of balls is great, it means fewer trips back and forth between your car and the court if you're playing doubles.

The included carrying bag is also nice, making it easy to transport the paddles and balls.

MY ASSESSMENT

Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase of the Gonex Pattern A Pickleball Paddle set. It's great for beginners as it is lightweight but still packs a good punch.

The grip pattern is comfortable and accurate, while the handle is a bit short; however, this isn't a deal breaker.

The included carrying bag and an extra set of balls are nice additions too! All in all, if you're looking for an affordable pickleball paddle, then I recommend checking out these.

  • The graphite carbon fiber face and polymer honeycomb core provide a perfect balance between power and control.
  • Ultra cushioned grip handle provides great comfort.
  • Generous sweet spot helps with consistency in groundstrokes.
  • The lightweight paddle allows easy maneuverability during dinks, drop shots, and volleys.
  • Multiple colorways and designs for a custom look on the courts.
  • Good ball control due to graphite carbon fiber face.
  • Easy to swing, providing good spin when added with a surface texture.
  • The paddle's edge is made of soft plastic, decreasing accuracy and grip.
  • Short handle could make it uncomfortable for larger handed people to hold for long periods.
  • Difficult to remove the cellophane from the handle grip.

Niupipo Single Pickleball Paddle is made of graphite carbon fiber face and polymer honeycomb core, providing the perfect balance between power and control. Additionally, the ultra cushioned grip handle provides great comfort.

Generous Sweet Spot

The paddle also has a surprisingly generous sweet spot which helps with consistency in groundstrokes. Weighing in at eight ounces, it feels light due to the balanced swing weight between the head and handle, thus allowing for great maneuverability during dinks, drop shots, and volleys.

Customizable Look

On top of all that, you can get it in multiple colorways and designs to give you that custom look while out on the courts.

The only concern with the Niupipo paddle is the edge of the paddle, which seems to be made of soft plastic. This could potentially lead to a decrease in accuracy and grip when hitting shots.

Additionally, because of its shorter handle, some larger handed people may find it uncomfortable to hold for long periods. Furthermore, I found removing the cellophane from the handle grip difficult and would've liked for it to have been a bit longer.

MY ASSESSMENT

Despite these few issues, I am impressed with this paddle for beginning players or those with tennis elbow. It provides better ball control than wooden paddles due to its graphite carbon fiber face and great maneuverability due to its balanced weight.

It also is easy to swing and provides good spin when added with a surface texture. I recommend the Niupipo Single Pickleball Paddle for beginners and intermediate players.

  • Lightweight and easy to maneuver
  • Solid sweet spot located towards the end of the handle
  • Comfortable grip circumference
  • Broad surface area allows for spin control and feedback on mishits
  • Grip remains comfortable even when wet
  • Surface of the paddle is a bit too stiff
  • Ball doesn't have as much pop off the face of this paddle
  • Handle may be small for some players to get enough spin

The Rally PX Graphite Pickleball Paddle is best for amateur pickleball player, rated somewhere between 3 and 3.5. It is incredibly lightweight which makes it very easy to move around and control shots.

Comfortable Grip and Sweet Spot

The grip circumference of 4 ¼ inches felt perfect in my hand, comfortable but not too large or small. Additionally, the sweet spot on this paddle is solid and located towards the end of the handle, exactly where I like to hit my shots.

Stiff Surface and Sound Issues

The only downside I found with this paddle was that the surface of the paddle was a bit too stiff. This made it difficult to consistently hit the sweet spot, especially when playing indoors where the ball tends to move faster.

Moreover, I found that sometimes my shots didn't have as much pop off the face of this paddle as I would like and some areas of the paddle also sounded a bit flat.

Handle Size

Unfortunately, no cover is included with this paddle which can be disappointing for some players, however I didn't think it was an issue because these days most people just keep their paddles in a bag anyways.

One other thing to note although this paddle is rated for tournament play, I did find that the handle is a bit on the small side which might make it difficult for some players to get all the spin they need.

MY ASSESSMENT

All in all, I think this is a great paddle and an excellent upgrade for amateur pickleball players. The surface area of the Rally PX Graphite is broad and allows you to feel your mishits, but also gives you enough control to handle all the spins you need.

Additionally, the grip remains comfortable even when wet and its lightweight nature makes it ideal for moving around quickly on the court.

  • High quality construction
  • Easy to control and maneuver with a longer handle
  • Great touch and precision, even outside of the sweet spot
  • Lightweight design that minimizes vibration in your hand
  • Good amount of pop and control, especially for dinking shots
  • It can be a bit expensive.

The first thing that stands out about the Paddletek Tempest Wave Pro Pickleball paddle is the high quality construction. The handle is longer than other paddles, allowing me to use proper form when swinging. This also helps with accuracy as well.

Impressive Touch and Precision

Additionally, this paddle has great touch and precision. Even outside of the sweet spot, miss-hits went where I wanted them to go without any issue.

The paddle's weight is perfect for smaller hands, making it easier to control and maneuver when needed. Also, the ball bounced off the face really nicely - high enough to get a good return but low enough to land drop shots.

Perfect Weight for Control

There is also a good amount of pop and control, especially for dinking shots - something I had struggled with in the past.

Ideal for Recreational Players

In addition, many of my female pickleball friends are using this same paddle and can't stop raving about it! It seems like a great choice for recreational players since it has improved control of distance shots, making it easier to add spin.

Plus, the length and width (about 8 inches and 15 inches, respectively) make it one of the top medium-sized paddles on the market.

Lightweight Design

What I love most about the Paddletek Tempest Wave Pro Pickleball Paddle is its lightweight design. The paddle doesn't vibrate nearly as much when you hit the ball, so there's no jarring sensation in your hand like with some heavier paddles.

The only negative thing I have to say about this paddle is that it can be expensive - but it will last a long time if taken care of properly!

MY ASSESSMENT

Overall, the Paddletek Tempest Wave Pro Pickleball Paddle is an excellent investment for any pickleball player looking for increased accuracy and control of their shots.

  • The handle is ergonomic and provides a secure grip.

  • Suitable for singles play.
  • Affordable price for a quality pickleball paddle.
  • Not enough texture on the paddle for better control of the ball.
  • The cheap plastic bag carry case with the paddle is too flimsy and doesn't have extra compartments for the extra pickleballs that come with the package.

The Niupipo MX-06 is one of the best pickleball paddles in 2024 because of its ergonomics, lightweight and durable material. The wrap around grip is comfortable in hand and provides a secure handle while playing.

Well-Balanced for Control

I also like that this paddle is well balanced, which makes it easier to control when hitting the ball.

This is a great lightweight option for ladies playing pickleball as it weighs just over 8 ounces, making it suitable for singles play. This paddle has a good sweet spot with some texturing for better ball control, but I would have liked more texture for even better control.

Additionally, consider your hand size when selecting a paddle, as paddles are specifically tailored to smaller or larger hands.

Concerns with Carry Case

The only thing I didn't like was the carry case with the paddle. It's a cheap plastic bag with one pocket and no additional compartments for the extra pickleballs that come with the package. The case is also too flimsy to keep the paddle from getting scratched or dented easily.

MY ASSESSMENT

Overall, I highly recommend the Niupipo MX-06 for beginners and experienced players. The lightweight design makes it easy to maneuver with great control over the ball.

The ergonomic grip and even weight distribution make this a great choice for those looking for a quality pickleball paddle at an affordable price. Just remember to buy or make your own carry bag if you need something more durable than what comes with the package.

  • Perfect for the intermediate player weighing in at 8.1 ounces and 1/2 inch thickness
  • Fiberglass hitting surface and polymer honeycomb core combination provides stability
  • Offers a great balance between power and control
  • Mix up shots to keep opponents guessing
  • Provides good value for money compared to more expensive paddles.
  • Slightly heavier than what I am used to playing with at 8 ounces.

Having recently tried out the HEAD Radical Elite Pickleball Paddle, I can honestly say that it has been one of my favorite paddles to date. It is built for the intermediate player, weighing in at 8.1 ounces and 1/2 inch thickness which makes it perfect for any shot your opponent hits.

Stability and Soft Touch

The first thing I noticed when using the HEAD Radical Elite was its stability and soft touch - something that is usually sacrificed with entry level paddles. Even with mis-hits, the ball still lands in as desired due to the fiberglass hitting surface and polymer honeycomb core combination.

This makes the Elite great for intermediate players who want to take their game to the next level but aren't ready for a more expensive paddle.

Balance Between Power and Control

What I most liked about the HEAD Radical Elite is that it offers a great balance between power and control. The ball comes off the paddle with a nice snap, yet there is still plenty of touch when needed.

This allows me to mix up my shots and keep my opponent guessing which was something I used to struggle with before using this paddle.

Weight Considerations

The only thing I disliked about the HEAD Radical Elite is its weight - being 8 ounces, it is slightly heavier than what I am used to playing with. Despite this though, I still felt in control of each shot without needing extra strength.

MY ASSESSMENT

Overall, I was very impressed with the HEAD Radical Elite Pickleball Paddle and highly recommend it for players at an intermediate level who are looking to take their game to the next level without breaking the bank.

  • Fast delivery and lightweight feel.
  • Balls are less durable when played outdoors regularly.
  • The grip could be improved.

Vinsguir Pickleball Paddle is a great starter kit, especially for those just getting into pickleball. The paddle is a bit shorter than others, but it still offers plenty of control; its grip is also comfortable, so you can play easily without worrying about blisters or soreness.

Furthermore, the sweet spot on the paddle is decent sized, making it beginner-friendly. Additionally, the eye-catching design adds an extra layer of fun!

Durability and Ball Performance

The durability of the paddle itself is great; however, I found that the balls were less durable when played regularly outdoors. They seemed to wear down quickly despite regular cleaning and care.

Additionally, there were some areas where the paddle could be improved, specifically the grip.

Colorful and Artistic Design

Overall, though, for the price, I love the colors and the artwork; hopefully, it stays on the paddles. So far, from what I have read in reviews, it has not been an issue with other buyers.

Although I have yet to use them, I am looking forward to playing. The paddle's weight feels great, and delivery was fast as well.

MY ASSESSMENT

The set also came with a colorful carrying case for paddles and balls - this is great when you're off to tournaments or want to keep your gear organized! Again, based on my personal experience, these are solid paddles for those just getting into pickleball.

How to Choose Best Pickleball Paddles in 2024 - Buying Guide

Choosing the right pickleball paddle can be tricky, especially if you're not sure what to look for. There are so many different paddles on the market that it can be difficult to know which is best for your playing style and skill level.

Fortunately, a few key factors to consider when selecting a paddle can help narrow down your choices and ensure you get the right one.

The core of The Paddle

The first is the paddle's core- this is what determines how powerful your shots will be and how much control you have over them.

Generally speaking, most paddles are made from some form of polymer either a solid or hollow one however, if you're looking for more power, you may find that a Nomex core or Gearbox carbon fiber core provides what you want.

The face of The Paddle

The next thing to consider is the face of the paddle – this is essentially the hitting area and will determine how much spin, power, control and accuracy you have over your shots.

A larger face size can help with more power as it increases the surface area for contact but decreases control due to not being able to direct shots as precisely.

On the other hand, a smaller face size provides better control with less power, so it all depends on what style you like to play.

The shape of The Paddle

When picking the right pickleball paddle shape for you, there are two main factors to consider: power and spin.

The wide body or classic shapes (such as Epic and S2) tend to be more forgiving, while elongated shapes (such as Mach 6, Invicta, and Omni) offer more reach.

If your main priority is power, then a wide body or classic shape may be best suited for you. However, if the spin is your primary focus, an elongated shape will give you some added advantage.

Ultimately it all boils down to personal preference - so make sure to experiment with different paddles until you find the one that works best for your game! Good luck, and have fun out on the court!

Size of The Paddle

The standard size of a pickleball paddle is 24 inches long with an 8-inch wide head and 5-inch handle. This is ideal for most players as it provides good reach and maneuverability.

Look at an oversized paddle if you have longer arms or prefer more power in your shots. These paddles are wider or longer than standard size and can give you an extra edge in power and reach.

Weight of The Pickleball Paddle

The next factor to consider is the weight of the paddle. Paddles that weigh less than 7.3 ounces are considered lightweight and great for maneuverability, while those weighing between 7.4-8.4 ounces are mid-weight and provide a balance between maneuverability and power.

Lastly, paddles above 8.4 ounces are considered heavy and offer more stability but less hand speed when going for quick volleys at the non-volley zone line.

Your Budget

Finally, you'll want to consider your budget when selecting a paddle. Depending on paddle face material and core technology, you can find pickleball paddles with price tags ranging from $50 to $300.

Generally speaking, the more expensive paddles are tailored for advanced players and may not be your best option if you're just getting started.

Now that we've gone over some of the key factors to consider when purchasing a pickleball paddle, let's look at a few tips to make sure you get the perfect one:

  • Make sure you try out several different paddles before making a decision. Different sizes, weights, and materials can all affect how a paddle plays, so it's important to test them out first-hand.
  • Don't be afraid to shop around. Different retailers often have different prices and selections, so don't just go with the first paddle you find.
  • Pay attention to the handle on your paddle. You don't want to skimp on this area, as a comfortable handle will make playing much more enjoyable.
  • Read customer reviews online before making a purchase. Reviews from other players can give you a better idea of how a paddle plays in real life, which can help narrow down your choices.

By taking into account size, weight, price point, and customer reviews when selecting a pickleball paddle, you should have no problem finding the perfect one for you.

Always try the paddles before making a purchase, and don't forget to shop for the best deals. With these tips in mind, you should have no problem selecting your next pickleball paddle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do expensive pickleball paddles make a difference?

Which is the best pickleball paddle to buy?

The best pickleball paddle to buy depends on your personal preferences and skill level. Generally speaking, composite paddles are ideal for experienced players who want more control over their shots.
On the other hand, beginners may prefer graphite or aluminum paddles which offer greater feel and power when hitting the ball.
